As Europeans celebrate the Schengen Agreement’s 30th anniversary, Gibraltarians are considering what freedom of movement and customs controls could mean for us, if a Treaty is agreed.

Gibraltar has never been a member, but if a Treaty is agreed, Spain would be the member state responsible for entry to Schengen. The Chief Minister has made clear Gibraltar will have to retain control over its affairs.
